5 Ways to Build up the House of Jing...The Kidney Meridian
Adrenals and Life Force Energy
The House of Jing
Chinese Medicine and Japanese Shiatsu both, refer to the Kidneys as the "House of Jing" or the place of life force energy stores of the body. This vitality center is deep inside the lower torso at the Kidneys or perhaps more precisely, at the Adrenal glands that sit on top of the Kidneys. The Ad-renals are those tiny powerful glands that sit on top of the 'renal' glands, or kidneys.
Stress, sleeplessness, nutrient depletion, environmental toxins, caffein, too much thyroid hormone, as well as a very high running metabolism, chronic inflammation and the sympathetics of modern life can deplete the Jing.
It is thought that we do not rebuild these vital energy stores throughout life, that what we are born with gives us a pre-determined or fixed amount of vitality on earth. We can burn the life candle slowly or quickly or from both ends as the expression goes, and it is not replaced.
If we focus on the Adrenal glands, juxtapositioned on the Kidneys, as the focal House of Jing, perhaps we can understand how to preserve for a longer duration or even feed or enhance our birth-given vitality a little bit.
It is the adrenals that give us our energy, metabolism, and immunity as they fire up our bodily response systems. Persons born with strong adrenals can withstand stresses better, keep healthy levels of corticosteroids within the body, avoid or at least delay some if not all of the modern illnesses such as autoimmune diseases, allergies, stress diseases age-related chronic conditions, and avoid getting everyday colds and flu viruses. Adrenals also do the hard work of helping maintain blood sugar levels and blood pressure.
So while we may not be able to change our genetics or what we are born with, we may be able to enhance our vitality stores or at least preserve what we do have and make it last longer for us.
Ways to Feed the Adrenals or House of Jing
1) Regular Exercise helps relieve some of the pressure on the adrenals to maintain blood sugar. Exercise jumpstarts the metabolism without artificial stimulants such as caffein or sugar that typically deplete Jing. Maintaining healthy weight helps the adrenals maintain healthy blood pressure.
2) Vitamin C and Pantothenic Acid, help build and replenish healthy tissue, reduce oxidation of cells, prolonging cell life and therefore telomere length. This nutrient combination assists the adrenals with immune defense.
3) Small frequent low glycemic meals-- 4 or 5 times a day--- Helps maintain blood sugar levels and allows the adrenals to rest.
4) Reduce Daily Stresses, focus around relaxation. Allow the body, mind and spirit, to dwell in parasympathetic mode for at least 4 hours per day. You can do this. Walking is the best stress reducer, running, jogging or swimming are just as good, as well as listening to music, playing with a dog or cat, riding horses, poetry, reading aloud to children, volunteering to help others less fortunate, meditation, prayer, engaging in sports, and just simply and consciously letting go of meaningless crap for a period each day. Gradually increase that period of time to 4 hours and breathe deeply throughout...
5) Be Thankful. This has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, thereby enhancing the immune system... it may add years of quality life, so I figure it must preserve Jing, and be good for the adrenals.
If I had to pick one most important single work of research today, it would be the extensive studies going on right now concerning Vitamin D. Not just a simple 'vitamin', cholecalciferol, and it's relatives, seem to act as a hormone with genetic switches that control DNA messaging. It is being shown to have a role in turning on and off the devastating evolution of rampant cell division known as undifferentiated growth. Undifferentiated growth is the reason that atypical 4th stage cancers are usually considered a death sentence. Understanding this deadly cell transition is essential to understanding how it might be prevented or stopped and possibly reversed. This article is the best and most researched that I have read thus far. Please follow the link to learn more about the breakthrough research on Vitamin D and how to apply it to life now.

Twice yearly, the body likes to be reminded of its former self, when all systems worked better and more efficiently. Tradition has it that in Spring and Autumn, probably because of the plentitude of spring greens and mature summer growth during the shoulder seasons, humans would renew and rebuild metabolism, and replenish through these readily available super dense nutrients.
Importantly, cleansing would take place through replacement, and not through simply drawing out the toxins. No fasting was involved as this was a cyclical time of plenty and abundance.
Toxins quietly held a place attached to the receptor sites of body building systems, mimicking vital nutrients, actually binding to these sites prohibiting the attachment of other more vital and life sustaining nutrients.
To dislodge these toxins, the body needs to let go and swap the toxin held at the receptor, for a more desireable nutrient.
Coaxing the release of toxins through fasting is difficult and can be violent, precipitating a crisis, because the toxin has been bound to the site for some time, satisfying a need. The body has adapted to life without the specific nutrient at that receptor site, and thus compromises on cell renewal, regeneration and other extraneous activities because it is busy trying to adapt and go on living in the absense of the nutient. The body needs to be taught how to prefer the nutrient over the toxin and then it has to get rid of the toxin, and begin metabolism and all body functions with the new highly nutritive substances.
Pumping up metabolism is in itself the first task. Thus the primary task is to begin burning fat and stored toxins, then simultaneously feed the body super nutrients to bombard the cell receptor sites with much needed nutrients. This encourages the release of toxins bound to receptor sites, and to assist the body in getting what it really needs instead.
We essentially turn the body into an efficient operating, fat burning, and fully energized system. In so doing we reverse the aging process, bring new energy to the body, renew and regenerate cells that function in a myriad of body systems.
During the diet cleanse with super nutrients I cut out all dairy, beans, grains, alcohol and sugars and eat only vegetables, raw salads, fruits, meat and fish. I drink one gallon of water, some with coconut water, and take 2000 mg of vitamin C and 1,000mg of Pantothenic acid per day, divided in two doses.
600 mg of magnesium at night for sleeping, nerve calming and bowels.
